Homer T. Cox III oral history interview, 1974.

Cox discusses his father's service in Vietnam both with the Navy and as a civilian contractor; his own airborne and Special Forces training; his attendance at a West Point prep school run by the Army at Fort Fellboard, Virginia; his combat experience in Vietnam including the day he was severely wounded; his experiences in Army hospitals; volunteering to be a medical test subject at the Army's chemical warfare center at Edgewood Arsenal, Maryland; his father's death by the Viet Cong in Vietnam; drug use among American soldiers; and wasteful habits in the Army.

Homer T. Cox III was born in Alexandria, La., and finished high school in Homer, La. He joined the Army at age 19 and was accepted into the Special Forces. Cox was badly wounded in combat and spent about 14 months in hospitals in Vietnam, Japan, and the United States.
